Srinagar, January 24 (KNO) : Hurriyat Conference (M) Thursday strongly denounced the massive frisking and search operation in run up to January 26, the Republic Day stating that this has resulted in big hardships for the general public as the entire Kashmir has been converted into a military fortress. Hurriyat (M) in a statement issued to KNO said the “every year, India’s Republic Day adds to the miseries of the people of Kashmir as search operations are intensified, people especially the youth harassed, roads blocked, vehicles checked, two-wheelers seized and people asked to prove their identity every 100 meters.” Hurriyat (M) paid tributes to three armed youth killed at Binner village of Baramulla—Shoaib Farooq Akhoon, Mohsin Mushtaq Bhat and Nasir Ahmed Darzi, stating that the sacrifices rendered by the youth have once again clarified that the people of Kashmir are engaged in a sacred struggle to free their homeland from the clutches of occupation and illegal control. “Kashmir’s young lot is being pushed to wall through ultimate oppression and left with the no option other than to pick up arms to fight the repression,” he said. The spokesman said that Kashmir issue was purely political in nature and the dispute can be resolved by means of sustained dialogue with all the stake holders but GOI’s intransigence and military approach is pushing an entire generation of Kashmiris towards picking up arms. Meanwhile, spokesman delegation comprising Musadiq Adil, Abdul Majeed Wani, Ghulam Nabi Najar and Jaffar Kashmiri visited Baramulla to meet resistance leader Khan Sopori who released after a long detention period. The delegation welcomed the release of Sopori and demanded that all the Kashmiri political prisoners serving detention in various jails in and outside Kashmir must be released without any condition.(KNO)
